Flavorful sandwich with goodies from Røros

Do you have day-old bread? It becomes like new with plenty of delicious ingredients from Røros: blue cheese from Eggen Gardsysteri with honey from Nordli farm, coppa ham from Røroskjøtt, and fresh vegetables. Head chef Martin Trana Flak from Scandic Nidelven in Trondheim shows you how to turn it into a real standout.

Flavorful sandwich with goodies from Røros

Approach

  1. 1

Slice the bread and fry it in a pan with plenty of good Røros butter. Cut a garlic clove in half, spear it on a fork, and rub the garlic over the bread while it is frying.

  2. 2

Mix baby salad with arugula, spring onion, cherry tomatoes, radish, and apple mint (if you have it).

  3. 3

Make the salad dressing: mix olive oil, salt, and lemon juice into the salad.

  4. 4

Cut generous slices of cheese and drizzle a little honey over them. This enhances the flavor of the cheese.

  5. 5

Plating: place the bread on a plate and top with the marinated salad. Add coppa ham and cheese on top. Finally, garnish with chive flowers or other edible decorations such as apple mint.
